The first step in buying a paintball gun is to decide which type you like.  Basically, there are two types of paintball guns; one type are realistic, military replica rifles used in scenario war-game play.  The other type are used in paintball competitions called ‘Speedball’, look more traditional and are faster and lighter.  Either marker could be used for either type of game, however they are fitted for their style of play.  Tactical (military replica) paintball guns can use parts from real guns like handguards, scopes and lasers to make the scenario play experience that much more realistic.  Tournament style paintball markers make great starter guns; they’re easier to maintain, operate and basic models are cheaper.
