If you've played paintball longer than 5 minutes or done any reaserch at all about paintball on the internet, you'll undoubtedly eventually come across the name Tippmann.  that's because they are a leading paroducer of some of the most popular tactical paintball guns on the planet.  They offer several models to choose from leaving one wondering, 'Which ones are the best and what's the difference?'.  Answering this question is difficult as all this company's guns are reliable and excellent to shoot.  As far as performance goes, there is not one that's better than the other; they ALL perform nicely and are similar in power and accuracy.  Part of the answer boils down to which of their markers is the most pleasing to the owner's eye.  There are however, subtle differences that may helpl you make a decision.

The Tippmann 98 Custom for example, uses a standard sized hopper, while the Tippmann A5, X7 and X7 Phenom use a wide mouth hopper (uncompatible with the 98). All of Tippmann's markers are .68 caliber and come semi-automatic - with the exception of the X7 Phenom.  The Phenom comes with a built-in electronic trigger offering 3 firing modes (semi, 3 round burst and full auto).  The Tippmann 98 is also more compatible with parts/barrels/accessories from other paintball equipment manufacturers as well.  Tippmann 98 barrel threads are used on many different paintball guns, offering more choices to upgrade.  Tippmann's US Army Series markers are also compatible with Tippmann 98 parts and barrel threads.  However the A5 and X7s have their own.  There are also buttstocks of every type available for Tippmann markers, however they are specific to the gun (not universal fit).

As far as other paintball accessories goes, like scopes, different handguards, grips, lasers, etc., all will fit on the Tippmann markers with the addition of a standard (weaver style) rail that is easlity installed first.  The Tippmann X7 Phenom come with rails built into the body of the gun, so they come ready to accessorize with whatever cool attachment you want to add.  Choose which Tippmann marker that best suites your style of play and perhaps what options you might want to add to your gun in the future.  Before buying, study ALL the Tippmann marker styles to see what stands out to you, but also for ideas of what you might want to customize it to later.  At ChoicePaintballGuns.com, we have the best selection on the internet of custom Tippmann 98, A5, X7 and X7 Phenom tactical markers.  We also carry the full line of Tippmann US Army paintball gear.
