It's fun to attach accessory parts to your paintball marker.  These might include a laser, sight or sniper scope to improve your shot accuracy, a different type of grip to help you steady/hold your gun more secure or even a flashlight.  If you want to add any of these items to your gun, you will need to attach them to a ‘mount’ (also called a ‘rail’).  A mount is an accessory part you attach to your paintball gun that will provide a ‘rail’ you can bolt your scope, sight, flashlight, etc. to. 
 

Some paintball guns come with rails/mounts already installed and you can attach things directly to them.  Most markers however come without and you will have to buy a mount; the decision of what you get will help you customize your paintball gun into your dream machine. 

It’s important to choose the right mount for your particular gun so it will fit properly and offer the most options.  Before choosing a paintball gun scope mount, it’s also very important to check where your hopper lies in relation to where your scope would go.  Many times you will need an ‘offset’ mount to allow proper viewing of the scope around a hopper.

There are many mounts and rails to choose from, making the decision of which to choose can be difficult.  Don’t worry!  Most mounts fit most tactical (military replica style) paintball guns, however not tournament style (speedball competition) markers.
